AC3Filter / Missing SR and SL Channels Upmixing 2 channel mono songs
« Last post by eascart on December 27, 2016, 12:23:47 AM »
I noticed that AC3Filter creates SR and SL Channels in auto matrix by adding 0.5 and -0.5 from L/R channels so in case of original mono files recorded as stereo (2 channels mono) the two waves are the same as the result returns zero. Is there any workaround insted of turning off auto matrix and setting both values positive? Could the creatores of AC3Filter make it recognize the null channels correcting and creating the rear channels? One soluction I tried was using Musereo to create a fake stereo so L and R would become different waves, but I want to preserve the original recording sound.

Thank You  :D
I'm feeling good finally i'm using ac3filter for mp3.
Thank You Once again

AC3Filter / AC3 Filter does not upmix 2 ch Wave Pack ".wv" format to 5.1
« Last post by eascart on August 12, 2016, 09:39:13 PM »
Got me a compressed wave pack format audio cd and AC3 Filter does not upmix to 5.1, center channel and surround are missing. Audio is lossless 2 channel stereo 44.100 16 bit. I have seen this with some mono files but never with stereo ones. Every other formats played upmixed to 5.1. Maybe converting to another format should solve the problem but I'd like to play as it is. Thanks for any help. Sorry about my english, actually I speak brazilian portuguese.
AC3Filter / Channels mixed up.

Could someone help me please?

I'm trying to get 5.1 sound on my home cinema from PC through SPDIF form my sound card, to do so I use Virtual cable to send sound to AC3filter so i can encode it and send it to my Xonar U7.
It works i get better sound with better bass and all channels work BUT then i downloaded few surrond tests ( ) and I have noticed some issues:

When center plays, left and right plays too.
When left surround (back) plays, left plays loud too and surround only quietly.
When right surround (back) plays, right plays loud too and surround only quietly.
And the subwoofer doesn't play at all (only in the tests).

I'm not sure where the problem is, I tried a few things like tunning the mixing matrix or trying the amplification, didn't help at all (maybe I have done it wrong?)

Home cinema: Samsung HT-C5550 + wireless transmitter for surround speakers.
Sound card: Asus Xonar U7 (external via USB)
Virtual Cable 4.13
AC3 filter 2.6.0b
Windows 8.1 64bit

I'm attaching some screenshots of my settings. (On GDrive)

I'll be thankful for any advice  :)

Almost a year has gone by, but did you ever solve this problem? I'm experiencing the same thing.
AC3Filter / AC3Filter silent after 1 second when downsampling to 48K
« Last post by Dogmaps on March 07, 2016, 02:38:29 AM »
I’m using latest version of AC3Filter on Windows 10 with MPC-HC.  I’m using it to play DTS encoded audio on my hardware which only accepts AC3.  It works well when the input rate is 48K, but I have problems when the input rate is 96K and AC3Filter must downsample to 48K.  When input rate is 96K, it plays audio sounding good for 1 second and then becomes silent.  I can see from AC3Filter GUI it continues to process audio after silence, but I hear nothing.  If I pause MPC and play again, I hear output again for 1 second, and then it becomes silent again.

I’ve tried changing different settings of AC3Filter, but I can’t get it to work when input rate is 96K.

Does anyone know what the problem could be, or how I could solve it?

Thanks much!
AC3Filter / Surround input into AC3Filter

Hello. I want to use AC3Filter to convert a 6-channel analog input into AC3 to send to a sound system.

So far, I've successfully followed this tutorial ( using AC3Filter, GraphStudioNext, and VB-Audio Cable to up-convert stereo from my PC (for example, sound from a YouTube video) into AC3, albeit with about a second of lag. I know this is working because the Dolby Surround light on the sound system comes on, and adjusting the a gain slider in AC3Filter changes the level of the appropriate speaker without affecting the other 5.

But now, I want to input 6 separate channels (in the form of 3 dual-channel inputs) into AC3Filter. My motherboard's Realtek sound card has more Line-In jacks than you could ever need, so no problems there. Although when I plug in more than 2 inputs at the same time it causes glitches in the Windows sound utility where the bar graphs don't show up more than 2 inputs on the same device.

But even if it weren't for that, the real problem is that there doesn't seem to be a way to input more than 2 channels of audio, or more than 1 input source, into AC3Filter from GraphStudio. AC3Filter only appears to have one input, and the listed format options in GraphStudio don't include anything past 2 channels. Even if they did, how would I combine all the separate 2-channel Line-In jacks into one 6-channel audio device?

So, basically, is there even a way to pipe 6 discrete channels of audio into AC3Filter?
AC3Filter / Missing startup file
« Last post by Shane on February 06, 2016, 10:04:29 AM »

I downloaded the ac3 codec 1.45b from DivX.

I found out through Autoruns that Windows is trying to run a file during startup, but the file is missing. This registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32\msacm.ac3filter

is trying to run c:\windows\syswow64\ac3filter.acm, which doesn't exist. How can I go about diagnosing this?
